Exclusive Grievance Camps for Women Collaboration with Department of Police, Madurai.

Ahead of the International Women's Day on March 8th, the Madurai City Polcie Organized a three day excusive grievance meeting for women, conducted in March 2013.

The Camps were aimed at respecting "womanhood" and conducted at Bye-Pass Road, Jaihindpuram and Sokkikulam, in Madurai.

The resource persons from police Department highlighted the unique qualities and bravery found among women who were in the years of Tamil Sangam (Forum for Tamil Literature). And the present day qualities of women, their shortcomings in the family, the disputes and violence they encountered in families and society were also discussed. Over 1500 petitions were submitted by afflicted women seeking remedy

These camps were conducted with an ultimate purpose of creating awareness among women assuring them that their security was well protected by different enactment passed by the Government, that could be applied and sought remedy by the women when they faced issues over family disputes, domestic violence, rape, sex abuse, dowry menace, forced marriages, child marriage, pornography, male chauvinism, rights over property.

Detailed pamphlets enumerating different offences against women and the legal enactment that redress the grievances of afflicted women were also distributed among the women participants during the camps.

MNEC took lead in conducting Grievance meeting & over 300 women from SHGs submitted grievance petition to the police personnel towards redressel.

MNEC and the Women Police Department conduct "Mobile Camps' on "Women Counseling" in different areas in Madurai

Poor women with issues and grievance who submit petition are directly intervened and various actions are taken out immediately towards redressing grievance and protecting the safety of women.

Conducting "Violence Against Women - Day"

Every year the day is observed protesting Violence against Women.

Judicial heads, heads of police department, women social activists address the public and women from SHGs, students on the need of safe garding children and women against sex abuse and violence.
